Lenovo ideapad y580 1080p vs msi gx60 1ac 021us

Guys,
I really need help with deciding between these two laptops.
I am willing to spend around the 1200$ range, so suggest any possibility of a better laptop.
The MSI GX60 has the following configuration:

I was looking in this general area for myself. First off, you can find the msi for more like 1200 (http/www.compsource.com/pn/GX601AC021US/Msi_298/Gx60-1ac021us--Amd--Amd-ASeries--23-Ghz--Ddr3-Sdram--Ram-8-Gb--750-Gb-GX601AC021US/)

The question is do you mind spending the additional $250... The price difference is pretty much balanced out by the gpu. It all depends on what type of gaming you're looking to do.
If for the next couple years you don't mind playing some games on medium or lower settings. Go for the Lenovo. If you want to play on maxed out graphics, get the MSI. Also, if you're a fan of 2 year warranties...

I am ok with spending the additional $250 but the main problem is the processor.
The A-10 doesn't seem appealing to me. I would have definitely gone for it if it had a i7 behind the 7970.
It seems that there is a huge difference between an i7 and the A10.
I am student in IT and our college demands the best processor possible.
I would have gone for it even with a 3rd gen i5 behind it.
Is there that much difference between an i7 and an A10 ?
And I stay in India(my uncle stays in the us and will be getting it for me, so no shipping charges )
and here we have very limited Msi service while lenovo is already established.
So there are many costumer care centres, almost two in every area. That is also to be taken into consideration.
Can we customize the Y580 with a geforce 670m or 675m?
I can settle with med/high graphics but can't spend nearly $1k just to play games in low graphics.Unacceptable.
Please, help me out.

DUDE , I have the sam e prob . moreover the MSI one looks cheap .. so which one did u buy ??

I bought the Y500 one with SLI. Works pretty well, as of now. Games are running good even in ultra.
Not many cons except for the battery.

The i7 is 2-2.5 times faster that the a10. If you need to do cpu intensive things or VMs or stuff like that the i7 is the much better bet.

How about the i7 + SLI 750m y500? Poorer battery life but the average gaming performance will be much better,
