The Settlement does not mean that any law was broken or that the Google did anything wrong," the notice states. "Google denies all legal claims in this case. The Class Representatives and their lawyers think the Settlement is in the best interest of the Class Members."
The way all companies take to come up clean and never recognize their mistake, but hey, it might cost them users!

What a waste. 8.5 million to tell people that what they post on the internet is public and posting your SS number on facebook is a bad idea.

You forgot to mention that the email was a mandatory requirement of the settlement. The way the email initially states it, it sounds like Google sent the email at their own behest.
