Laptop wont start and launch startup repair not working

Hello,
my laptop won't boot. It brings me to windows error recovery to launch start up repair or start normally and neither option works. It wa working fine earlier today and not sure what happened. Please let me know your thoughts. thanks,

are you running windows 7? either way if you have a install cd for your operating stsem you will want to insert it and run some repairs. you might have to go into the recovery console if it doesnt fix it. what does it exactly do the when you go to boot normally? does it start loading windows and crash and restart?

Run a hard drive test in DOS...HIRENS CD etc, it sounds like a failing hard drive...
