In short, I want to know if it is possible to upgrade my Lenovo Y580's (1366x768 version) screen to a 1080p panel. I have not been able to find any definitive answers as to whether or not this possible. If anyone knows if this is possible, and/or what screen would be ideal to use, preferably a matte and cheap, the help will be greatly appreciated.

I am just not satisfied with the 1366x768 display; it is quite frankly garbage and that is my only disappointment to an otherwise great machine.

Thanks!

I think the best thing to do is to contact Lenovo. But most likely it is impossible to change the screen on laptops.

I am sure its possible but it will take a lot of time and a large chunk of money. Your best bet would be to try and sell your laptop for around $500 and then spend an extra 400 to get a full hd screen. Instead of having to either pay lenovo to do the upgrade or find a broken Y580 with a full hd screen and swap. both ways its a lot of work, money, and possibly a voided warranty.

Well, I looked up the whole HD cable thing, and it looks like you're right. Some people said that previous model's cables are available and that the same would probably happen with the Y580 soon enough; kind of disappointing, but guess I just have to be patient :) .

Thanks for your reply
