Samsung series 7 w/ i7-3615QM no turbo boost?

So i recently purchased the samsung series 7, 15.6", with i7-3615QM which is 2.3ghz and should turbo boost up to 3.3ghz however I have CPU-z and it never goes over 2.3ghz. (running prime95)

did samsung limit something to keep it from turbo boosting?


Aside from this confusion, the laptop has been awesome. The battery life is impressive, especially after doing some minor tuning like switching to windows basic, turning screen brightness down to around 50% and turning bluetooth off.

Ok i figured it out, there are two different settings that i had to change before i got the 3.3 ghz turbo boost.

First in the bios there is a CPU energy saver/efficiency setting that i had to disable. this actually only got me up to 3.19ghz.

Second, the built in samsung utility called "easy settings" (under samsung folder in start menu) has a performance setting set to balanced or something - I changed that to "high performance".

I ran prime95, and checked CPUz and although it wasnt consistent, it did jump up to 3.29ghz.
