Hi guys, I know real hardcore gaming laptops are in excess of 1-2k, but I really cannot afford that right now and my ex wife has sold my gaming rig without my permission, and I have a steam account, and Origin account with around 4k worth of games total, I really need a budget gaming laptop. I have found a website which sells budget gaming laptops for under £500. I am happy to play games like BF3 on the lowest graphical settings which some of these laptops seem to do fairly well. I need opinions on which of these would be better for my purpose.

Thanks for your time.

don't waste money on a half-arse laptop - save until you can buy another all out gaming rig is my opinion

suck it up and bite the bullet until that time comes where you can build another rig

Shes my EX wife mate, hence no longer married.

I would still like opinions on which of the laptops is better, I am not going to be able pay out more than that for many months so if I'm to get back into a little gaming I will need to purchase one of those listed, so please could anyone offer any real advice and not tell me to wait as it's not an option.

Cheers.

If you are getting one of those laptops it is definitely worth saving some money to get the acer timeline instead of a 5755G. Trust me, it's worth it but don't get it if memory space is important to you because of the SSD. Since your saving for a gaming system I thought I would point out to you that scan.co.uk is by far the best for value in the UK if you decide to save up and build another gaming rig. Also, you save alot of money if you buy their overclocked bundles(Don't know why they call it that since they give you the option to have no overclocking).

Hi mate, can you explain why those would be better than the 5755G?

the cpus are fasterthan the i3 andbthe gt 640m and the 7670m are faster than the 630m. the timeline also comes with an ssd and while its smaller in capacity its a much faster drive in terms of performance.

The 5755G has an i5 mate, that turbos up to 3.1, the Timeline only turbos up to 2.3 so it's faster on the 5755G no?.Also according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/ the 630m is slightly better than the 7670, but obviously the 640m is slightly better than the 630m, but does it warrant losing almost a ghz on the CPU?

Oh right didnt think of bottlenecking. Can I ask one more thing. Why the 5560G over the cheaper i3 version of the 5755G, both at 400 quid each? Isnt the i3 better than the A6, and the 630m better than the 7670?

In single treaded programs the i3 is probably faster, with more than 2 threads the A6(being a quad core) would be faster. So of you where doing activities that used more multithreaded programs the A6 would have been the way to go but currently with gaming speed is a bit better with atleast 2 cores so the i5 would be the best gamer with the i3 and A6 at a close tie for 2nd.

Hello again mate, thanks for the reply. I thought the GPU would bottleneck before the CPUs when gaming? the 630m is a decent bit better (sometimes up to 20+ more fps in alot of games) than the 7670, so in this case surely the i3 5755G would be better for gaming applications?

You could corner her at night and beat the money out of her, but that would be wrong. I recommend at least an i5, 4gig ram, and something in the ati 5k, or nvidia 400 range.
