Hey I am in need of a recommendation for a gaming laptop that has good battery and is lighter. I have an ASUS G73JH. The battery sucks, but performance rocks. I am a system admin consultant and need something I can travel with. I was looking at http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/thinkpad/w-series/w530/
Specs I am looking for are
HD 500GB +
RAM 12GB +
Battery at least 6 hours not playing game just normal use

Any thoughts would be great thanks

Gaming laptop and good battery life are mutually exclusive. There are some out there that have the ability for good gaming with decent battery when not gaming but any laptop that has a dedicated card will suffer from low battery times as soon as that card kicks in.

Check out HP's dv series. They offer discounts on 9 cell batteries and can be equipped with a gt 650m. They currently have a 30% off any customized laptop $999 or higher though I am not sure when that is going to end.

Then there is the lenovo y580 with a gtx 660m and I think it gets between 5 and 6 hours when not gaming.

Yeah, DV6 are amazing for battery!

Mine has like hours of battery even when on youtube. it lives up to its specified.

Not the best for gaming but will do good FPS on high.

I have a i3 GT 630m DV6 which is the same price as a integrated-graphics laptop with i5

HP DV6 fills the gap in the market for a stylish but cheap and good at gaming laptop.

Currently, with coupon code NB8342, you can get a dv6t with 3rd gen i5, 8 GB 1600 Mhz ram and 2 GB GT 650m for $699.99. Ya you only get the 1366x768 screen but you will be able to play many many many games maxed out with those specs. And you can always play on full 1080p on an external monitor through HDMI if you want to.
