HP dv6-7014nr versus Lenovo Ideapad y580

So, i am looking for a laptop to buy before this Christmas. I am going to college and will be using it for 3D modelling and Animation along with Paint-shop, Photoshop etc. I also want to be able to play Games for years to come, though I'm not worried about full settings or utilizing the highest screen resolution. In general, I'm looking for it to last for at-least 4 years, and it will be used in complement with a desktop (which the school provides for use).

Though I'm sure that companies like MSI and sage etc. have good computers i would rather stay with the major brands. (HP, Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Acer, Asus)

-The GTX 660m is supposedly faster, but the GT 650m (rMBP) seems to outperform it in some cases. I have checked multiple sources, each has a different one come out on top...Input? The info i got regarding bandwidth, etc. was from the nvidia site, the manufacturers did not specify.

-Futuremark has results for both cards only with 1GB VRAM, unsure of the clock speed

-Both are eligible for the Windows 8 Pro upgrade so I'm not worried about the specific OS

-The HP is eligible for the XBOX360 Arcade console (i can pawn that off)

-Warranties + Accidental Damage are each around 100$

-Some reviews of the HP have minor touch-pad problems and overheating on the 9-cell version

-Each uses Optimus, and switches with an Intel HD 4000

-For Comparison the Computer i have now has a 800mhz FSB 1GHZ centrino with a 128mb integrated gpu and only 1GB or RAM (2004) Either way it is a huge upgrade hence my predicament... i dont really have experience with buying new laptops

Specs are about even.. but why would you do that to yourself to go with a brand that has known issues? Personally, I'd go with the Lenovo laptop- HP has the worst malfunction rates of major brands.
