Super fast laptop

I am looking to buy a superfast laptop. I'm tired of the slow startup and processing. I want to use the laptop strictly for photo editing raw pictures with lightroom 4 and maybe a couple other photo editing programs. I will browse the internet and would like to retrieve e=mail and send photos but I won't be downloading games, music and other programs not related to photo editing. Im looking at:

Is this fast? How is it compared to the mac pro?

It is completely sufficient for your works. Though the battery might be on the weaker side.

You haven't given us the price for it...

I would see if you can change the memory to 12 or 16GB because the more you have, the faster your processing of effects will be. And the battery - I agree, more time is better. An 85Wh or something similar is what I would check into.

+1 on the battery, most laptop battery tend to only last for a few hour especially when you are running quad core and dedicated graphic card. Its one of the things that Apple does really well although you can get a larger battery with you laptop and highly recommand you do. It might adds a bit of weight.

The other area that mac book pro is better at is that it has ips display so image quality should be better.

All the other hardware should be the same as you get from a mac book pro and the same system from apply with 15" cause apple don't do 14" costs $2,499.00.

The cost on the sony website is $1490. I believe I would have the option to change the memory to 12 or 16bg and I know I can change the battery. I'll see what the cost would be.

The memory upgrade would be to 16b. If I upgrade to 16b and upgrade the battery the cost goes up to $1655

Just looking at the price list on sony website. +$400.00 for a 256Gb SSD is really pricey

How much do they charge for the SSD? Perhaps you could shave a couple more $$ if you make it a HDD and purchase your own SSD...?

You might also be able to save money by getting your own memory if the motherboard is the same between all memory configurations.

If you get your own SSD, then a Samsung 830 or a Crucial M4 would probably be your best bet. They use a lot less power than even other SSDs do and it can help battery life a little.

EDIT: The Samsung 830 is among the fastest SSDs that use a SATA interface, especially if you get the 256GB model.

I think the ssd was $400 on this one. When I was comparing, all the laptops had differnt prices for the ssd on the sony website. The exact same description tho. This one was originally $500, but $400 with a discount. the hp has one for $210 for 160gb. this one has 256gb. I definately want fast. so i chose this one.
