How do i get my hp all in one printer to scan to my hp computer

i have an hp 1312 all in one color laser jet printer connected to my hp computer for printing. works fine. how do i get it to scan to my computer?

Please visit the manufacturer's website to download the drivers for your device. You can use google to find the manufacturer's website if you do not know it. In the support section download the drivers for your specific make and model of the device for your version of Windows.

Note: If the manufacturer only lists drivers for Windows XP and not for Windows Vista or Windows 7, that means the device is unsupported or incompatible with the unlisted operating systems.

If you do NOT know the make & model of your device you can Search by Vendor / Device code as shown in device manager.
In the device manager, for the device you need driver for, Right click properties for the device, go in details for the device driver.
You will see a code like per example VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS...

The VEN code means vendor and the DEV code means device: in this case the vendor is 8086 and the device is 27D8.

Once you have the two codes, go to www.pcidatabase.com.
Enter the two codes and you should get the name of your hardware. From there you can search for a driver download for your hardware.

there should has been a ocr software cd with the printer. iris software been used for a while for the ocr software for hp scanners and all in ones. there are some fre ocr out there that may work...i would try one of the paid ones to see if it what your looking for (free 30 day trial) . vendor abby fine or iris 14. the paid version can scan to pdf and scan into word and other formats not just image files. also with scanner software is how good the ocr software is..you dont want it changing the doc your scanning in.

The HP scanner should have come with a cd of software. If installed you can access the program in the start menu.
There is a different exe for each function of the all in one unit.

For scanning to the pc, you put the document in the scanner, and use the software for scanning, which will remotely activate the scanner.

If you are missing the cd, the software is downloadable via the HP support website.
