Help me choosing my next laptop.

Hello guys.I know that not the right forum to ask,but is the only one i know.I'm looking for a laptop in the price range of 600$-650$ TOPS.It won't be used for gaming,just for surfing in the net and some programs for university,basically daily use stuff.Right now i'm looking for the Dell Inspiron 15R,the option with the i5-2450m --> http/www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron- [...] l=en&s=dhs The second one,for 599$ ,with 500GB HDD and 6GB RAM. Guys,i really need help because i need laptop daily and my current one is dead.I'm writing this from my friend's PC.It's really important since i'm around 22 thousand km away from my family and that's my only way to contact them! Thanks in advance.
P.S. 15.6" is the screen size i want.

Isn't a bad deal if you want light/thin/long battery. It won't set any land speed records with the i3 low voltage model, but for just basic stuff it would be good. It's probably going to be slower and less repairable than the ones you listed, but should be a nice machine to consider.

edit: My wife and I looked at the U410 ultrabook model, while recently shopping; which got pretty good reviews. I did very little research on this one however, as you seemed to be in a hurry.

The 15.6" Insprion 15R is not a particularly good deal for a basic user, at a price of $599.

Another important thing to note is that it should be of the least of your concerns which type of processor you get. You will not notice any difference between a Core i3 and a Core i7 for basic usage, and should instead focus your attention on other aspects of a laptop (e.g. build quality, display resolution & quality). The same applies to RAM past 4GB.

Take a look at the Lenovo Thinkpad T520 / T530 through the Barnes and Noble Gold discount. With this laptop, you get excellent build quality and a great display.

The Inspiron 15R's 15.6" 1366x768 display makes things onscreen rather large, and has very poor image quality due to low contrast. The Insprion 15R's build quality also cannot rival that of the 15.6" Thinkpad T-Series.

The 1366x768 display makes things onscreen large, and provides a limiting multitasking workspace compared to the higher resolution displays because not as much fits onscreen. - The main differences between the T520 models and the T530 models are price, keyboard, and processor selection. For basic use, base your decision more on the price and keyboard differences, because the difference between available processors will probably make little difference.

- If you must upgrade the memory, then keep in mind that it is much cheaper to upgrade the memory by yourself after-market than it is to select memory upgrades on the configuration page.

Hello.Thanks a lot for the reply.Sry for replying you soo late,but i didn't had the opportunity to.I have one problem with the T520.When i click the link,nothing about buying it shows up.Only for the T420,T430,T530 but no T520.Any idea how to select the T520.
I was using a 15.6 inch display with 1366x768 resolution in my last laptop.It wasn't that bad...
