I have had a dell inspiron for a few years, I like to take it with me when I travel in the US.
I had read on infogate where a review was given on this laptop.

You had mentioned having built in wireless and true mobile added

I really like this computer and was wondering what I can do to upgrade and make it a wee bit faster and more mobile connections.

Can you recomend where I can have this done by an honest company.

I am in Cocoa beach florida

appreciate any help you can send me.

What do you mean by "true mobile added"?
You mean 3G or 4G from AT&T or Verizon?

It has a PC Card (Type II, CardBus) slot where you can plug a card in.

Does is still have the orginal 256Mb of RAM? because that can be upgraded?

How old is it?

It does not have Wifi built in, so that is also an option.

Wifi is free at some hotels and coffee shops, whereas you have to pay for 3G or 4G every month.

Thank you for replying to my question on the dell 5100.

It is a basic model and I have had it for 7 years

Right now I have linksys wireless plug in card in it. and using through a bright house wirless modem. it is working on wireless at home.

when I travel I always have problems getting connected to wirless. ?

Thought if I could upgrade it somewhat it would be a little faster.

I could keep it as is for the kids , its a neat little lap top.

if there was a way to make it better I would like to do it.

How much memory (RAM) does it have?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System

I believe if it is seven years old you are running XP, so that is the directions I provided.

I don't know if you realize, but you can get a whole new laptop with built in Wifi and lots of RAM and CPU power for about $400.

For example, HP Pavilion (G6-1D98DX) for $379.99 at Best Buy this week.

Or a Lenovo 4334DBU 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Notebook for $399.99
