This is strange! Our VAIO laptop turns on just fine sometimes, and others...it just will not. We can clearly hear that the computer is turned on (drives are working, power light indicator is on, etc.), but the monitor displays nothing. We've unplugged the battery, and still have the same sporadic results. Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this issue?

Laptops are nearly impossible to troubleshoot hardware with when it's not something obvious. You'll probably have to play 'ring around the rosie' with the manufacturer until they agree on fixing it. If you're capable, take out your hard drive before sending it in and plug it in to another computer to back up your data in case they "had to wipe the OS" during their fixing process.
