540M vs 630M?

I'm trying to choose between Acer Aspire 5750G-2454G50Mnkk, Intel® CoreTM i5-2450M 2.50GHz, 4GB, 500GB, nVidia GeForce GT 630M 2GB and Acer Aspire 5755G-2434G64Mnks Intel® CoreTM i5-2430M 2.40GHz, 4GB, 640GB, nVidia GeForce GT540M 2GB.

I want to use it for gaming, which one would be the best? the graphic cards seem to be similar the only difference is the extra 100 mhz..oh and I intend on putting 8 gb of Corsair Vengence RAM 1600 MHZ.

You might want to look at the Aspire AS7750G-6645 17" notebook ~$550 a/r
Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz 17.3" 1600x900 LCD w/ Radeon HD 7670M. (roughly equal to GT 635M)

Using http/www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html you can select the specific games you want to play and compare the two cards. Between these two cards, it really depends on the game, so it would be difficult to say for sure which is better without knowing that. Seems that the 630 is better for games like skyrim and Battlefield 3, and the 540m is better on games like Dues Ex, CoD: Modern Warefare 3 and Starcraft 2.

I'm thinking of going with the 630M, is there a difference for this laptop between a 630m 2 GB and a 630M 1 GB one?

The only rebrands are the 670m and 675m (570m and 580m). The rest of them are new Kepler chips.

As for memory, if a mobile GPU uses more than 1Gb of VRAM I'd be astonished. Baffled. Flabbergasted.

No difference in 2GB vs 1GB @ 1366x768 resolution.
The faster CPU would make more of a difference in performance.

No Kepler GPUs being mentioned in the topic so far. Everything mentioned has been 40nm Fermi based.

i husing max 800mb vram on 1366x768p resolution, on the fortress 2, crysis and MW3 using max 550mb of vram

thats really a much needed as well as important ques to know about.before this my opinion is to compare the generations.....nVidia 520m/525m are medium range gpu...their ratio must be around 8/12 fps respectively....later nVidia 540m got some developed..it consists about 14 fps frame rate...and then nVidia 630m gpu...its frame rate about 16.4 fps...so u have to realize that for playing high definition games u have to have a gpu that consists more fps rate to run the game smoothly...as well as frequency....here i recommend nVidia geForce 630 more powerful gpu to play latest HD games.....

630M is same as 540M its the same graphic card. the clocks might be slightly changed but within 5-10% of eachother
