My samsung notebook wont start up even when power light is on

Hello,
my Notebook wont start up even tho the green power light is on.Days before it said i should consider changing my battery.I have now plugged it on the mains and the green power light is on yet it wont start up at all would buying new replacement battery solve the problem.Help..im not technical at all

Alright so what you are basically saying is the light comes on but you don't hear anything when you put your ear to it?

Have you tried starting it with the battery removed? you don't need it in and if it said it had an issue can't hurt to try.
