Hello

I have an Acer Aspire notebook (5738Z series). I want to sell it now, but need to restore it to factory settings if I can. It didn't come with any disc.

Please are you able to help me with this? The instructions need to be simple as I am not a technician!

Thank you for any help you can give.

Hello newcomer.

First, never include your email in the post unless you want to receive tons of junk mail. :p

As for the restore part, I would assume that you have the original hard drive since the recovery partition is in it.

I would recommend you to burn the recovery DVDs and use them to do the recovery. In Windows/Start there is a folder Acer or Acer Management that has an application for you to burn the DVDs (about 4). Once the DVDs are created, just put the DVD1 in the drive when booting.

You can also hit F10 or ALT-F10 when booting to bring up the recovery mode. It is very simple. But it is good to have the DVDs in case something goes wrong.

Good luck. :)
