Will this laptop run older games?

I just bought a new laptop and my brother is getting my aunt's old one free. I know for sure mine is fine but I'm concerned his won't be able to run a few games we want to co op even on the lowest settings (Resident Evil 5, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, older games). The only game on there so far is WoW: Cataclysm and it runs at around 30-40 fps @ 1366x768 with settings on low-medium and textures high.

He's getting the Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5200. It's not a powerful notebook. Here are the specs:

AMD Dual-Core C-50 @ 1.0GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6250
3GB of DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

We're going to upgrade to 8GB of RAM just because it's so cheap and will help overall, but will we see any performance boost since integrated cards use system RAM? We're only looking for a playable 20+ fps on low settings @ 720p.

Thanks for reading.

Hello anitechno;

You're right to be worried.
That C-50 dual core APU @ 1.0Ghz is going to hold that notebook back.

Wow:Cat is basically a 2005 game. L4D and RE:5 are like 2008/2009 games.
There just isn't any source I could find that says how well it will run those games.
If you look at game minimum system requirements - it looks doubtful:

Putting 8GB of RAM in there is a waste of money - even though it's not much money. Zero gain. None at all.
