1. What is your budget?
$800

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
I'd love a 14", but realistically at my price point I think 15.6". ABSOLUTELY NO 17+ inch.

3. What screen resolution do you want?
1366x768

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
More of a portable laptop, since I might bring my desktop with me to college.

5. How much battery life do you need?
~6.5 hours +

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Battlefield 3: Low-Medium
Call of Duty 4: High
Left 4 Dead 2: High

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
I need it to run some engineering programs though like AutoCAD and MATLAB. Other then that, just browsing, some music, and an occasional Netflix movie.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500gb+ with preferably 7200rpm.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Any trusted/trustworthy site. Ranging from Newegg to the HP website, etc.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I'd love for it to last 4 years, but 2 at the minimum.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
DVD read and write.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
No bias at this point. After research, however, I find HP to be my best price/performance solution.

13. What country do you live in?
United States

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

New or Refurbished is fine. Prefer Intel CPU maybe i3 or above, Dedicated Graphics. Backlit keyboard would be awesome but not a deal breaker.
