Gaming Laptop for 800-850$ usd

I'm looking for a decent gaming laptop, max $850, that can play games like WoW, LoL, Diablo 3, SC2, fallout 3 .. on high settings.

My requirements are: good dedicated gpu, 6-8gb ram, nice processor.

A backlit keyboard option would be a nice perk as well, but having trouble finding this option on anything besides XPSs.

Hard to get a laptop for $850 max with a good dedicated card that will get you the performance you desire on "WoW, LoL, Diablo 3, SC2, fallout 3". You should look for a GT540 or GTX630 mobile card if you want to do those games with no problems (as long as you don't get a laptop with 1080p screen).

I can say form personal experience that an AMD A8 Quad core 3500 (or 3520) would play Star Wars: The Old Republic on max settings at 25 fps avg. I chose to buy a Toshiba laptop (http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214611) for under $700 (at the time of purchase) and I love the damn thing. I will agree the build quality isn't THAT stellar but I don't mind since it performs for what I am using it for (Movies and mid to high end games). The AMD A8 on a video range performs similar to (or a little less than) a GT540 card.

Because screen resolution can strain a video card. That's partly why most laptops don't do high resolution. 1. the cost to produce a 1080 screen that small is outrageous for most consumers and 2. would need a strong mobile card to support it.

How important is getting a quad core processor vs dual? I feel like I do not want to buy a duo core on a laptop I may be using for the next 3 years or so because it will become outdated, but I truly don't know what makes a quad better than a duo. Any explanation would be great.

A quad core has more cores = more threads and making it faster. Anyways, games now are just getting at 4 core support. Anything more, really, will not be completely utilized. Dual cores will become obsolete soon, with the growing popularity of 4+ cores. Hope it helped!
