From the benchmarks I've seen, there doesnt seem to be that much of a difference (15%~~)

will a6 3400m overclocked to 2.3~ghz be able to handle the games then?
and how hot does apu usually get?

That completely depends on the manufacturer of the laptop. I would imagine with almost any 17'' one there would be plenty of space for a heatsink and vents though. It's not a particularly hot chip, they are both still 35W TDP IIRC (just like a standard i3 or i5)

I would never recommend overclocking on a laptop though, unless it was constantly sat on a cooling mat or something.

It will be constantly sat on a zalman cooling pad (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834994227)

I've seen this apu be overclocked to 2.4ghz at 70C underload (w/o cooling pad) commonly .

Wondering, because i found an HP laptop which is notorious for cooling, will that be a problme..

I think this will work on all accounts if Hp brand is acceptable.

Refurbished for $557
http://www.compsource.com/ttechnote.asp?part_no=LW460UARABA&vid=195&src=F

or new for $649(I'd go for the refurb ... but I'm cheap)

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1883067&sku=H25-173101&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=lw9MynSeamY-4uN3gVWqvc_ISvIspMD7sA

According to specs ... insane battery life and that 6750m will do everything you need on the games listed and you even get your 1600x900 resolution.

One of the best deals going on a 17" if HP is an acceptable brand.
