Hello I was curious about my Asus K50ID-X1 would the chipset on the motherboard be able to take a quad core like the one below or should I just put in a Core 2 Duo? Both of the processors are socket P and I just want to double check my research and see if its possible.

Chipset/Southbridge (From CPUZ)
Chipset - NVIDIA - ID0A86 Rev. B1
Southbridge - NVIDIA - nForce 730i Rev. B2

Bios. AMI
v. 218

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9100 ($120.00)
(12M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

or

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9550 ($50.00-60.00)
(6M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

There is a nice blog about tweaking this laptop http://asusk50idx1unleashed.blogspot.com/2010/08/going-from-22ghz-to-24ghz-smart-way.html

This is the CPUs that model can come with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8800/P8700/P7450/T6670/T6570/T5900 : 2.66 GHz - 2.1 GHz,
Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor T4400 : 2.2 GHz
Intel® Celeron® Processor T3100 : 1.9 GHz

If you want to try a quad core, you're better off contacting ASUS support directly unless you want to risk killing the laptop.
