I just got a new job, and am finally able to start putting away some money every month for a computer. I tend to play games with a lot of friends (in person), so I thought a laptop would work nicely for that. Unfortunately, I don't know much about laptops! I copied the section below from the FAQ's, hopefully that has enough info to help me out! Thanks for reading this far, and if you post, thanks for helping me out!
1. What is your budget?
My budget is $500 +/-$100
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
At least 11 inches
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Doesn't matter to me
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Desktop replacement
5. How much battery life do you need?
At least 1 hour, will probably be plugged in most of the time
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
I would like to be able to play Starcraft II, SW:ToR, Minecraft, Terraria, Oblivion, Skyrim, and misc. FPS games with no lag, preferably on Medium settings.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Possibly game recording/video editing
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
250 GB or more
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
As long as the laptop matches what I want to get, it doesn't matter to me where I get it.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I would like to keep my laptop for at least 3 years. I would rather go a little over my budget if that meant extending the life of this purchase.
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
DVD ROM, I'd like to be able to burn discs as well.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
13. What country do you live in?
USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
The laptop I get will be my primary computer, so if there's something that will add a lot of performance for not much more, I'm flexible with the price. The price range is more of a guideline. If it takes me an extra month of saving, then that's fine if it's worth it! Also, wherever I'm at, I'm likely to be sitting at a table or desk, so the size/weight isn't too much of an issue.
What do you guys think will work for me?
