SWTO on high.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

I guess the option to use this "toy" for after effects/PS and sony vegas would be nice.

N/A

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

Pretty much will be used for gaming wirelessly. Dont have a desktop, so this thing will have to do it all.

Currently have a Sony Vaio i7, 8gb, Nvidia 310m. Useless for SWTOR.

I have looked at a Sagar NP8150

an Asus G73SW

and an Alienware Mx17

Any way to get the higher vid cards in a $1200 range?

Hello myztery;
Just barely - with compromises. You have 'pay to play' when you're talking about laptops.

From the THG article: Star Wars: The Old Republic: PC Performance, Benchmarked
HighAA%201920.png

Judging by the desktop video card performance we can expect that the GTX 560M equipped notebooks will perform just a bit below the GTX 550Ti / Radeon HD 5770. With the GTX 570M notebook graphics cards you get gaming performance just a bit above the same cards.
You have to step up to the GTX 580M or Radeon HD 6990M to get performance above the desktop GTX 460 / HD 6850.
Looking for HD 6970 performance? You need to be looking at HD 6970M CrossfireX notebooks.

For around $1120 you can get a FORCE 1761 17" notebook
The compromises? It's a MSI chassis and a dual core 5-2430M 2.4Ghz CPU with GTX 570M graphics.
Includes 8GB RAM, 640GB 5400rpm HDD, 17.3" 1920x1080 LCD and Win7 Home Premium.

And a bit over $1500 for a Radeon HD 6990M equipped Sager NP 8170

How much better would a Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M GPU w/1.5GB GDDR5 in SLI mode be?

compared to the others mentioned?

Sager NP8180

Probably out of my price range, but possibly worth considering upping the range if it makes a big difference.

2x GTX 560M SLI should be just a bit better than a single GTX 580M or desktop GTX 460M.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M review if you look just to the right of the review you'll see a vertical list of GPUs ranked by performance. It's not the same as actual benchmarks but it's a broad guide to where various cards or CFX/SLI combos rank in relation to other options.

I suppose you're already considered and discarded the desktop gaming rig option?

Yea myztery, that Laptop is GTX 460 SLI. and if you could even find one it stock for a good price, Get it. Cause other than ASUS this is your best option. the Republic of Gamers laptops is the best tho for the money

I wouldn't buy from this site .... bad experiences w/ service department ..... but their web site does give a good cross section of what's available.

Never heard of Clevo ? They make Sager....they used to make Alienware before dell came along.

I ended up buying the mx18 for $1600. No shipping, no tax. Used, but it was purchased late Nov 2011. Its in perfect condition with receipt. It runs the game perfectly.

Thanks!
