Last ditch effort before scraping, so not much to lose & not worth adding much $.

2135: Usually reboots after running a bit; probably overheat since common prob with this laptop series. Have dissassembled, cleaned fan & used Arctic Silver on cpu. Using Buslink pcmcia/usb2 adapter for linksys wifi. Maybe internal wifi would be cooler? Seems pcmcia is weak & probs are common with this laptop series.

2105: Opened bottom to "unscrewed mb" level and started routing new Tyco internal antenna; opened lid and removed lcd, but see foil shield and unsure where to mount antenna flags/ends. No instructions came with antenna. Reassembled without antenna. Now pcmcia doesn't work. Will dissassemble again to look a pcmcia/mb connection, but if dead, laptop not much use without wifi.

Additionally, added Broadcom 54g MaxPerformance 802.11g nics (same as used by HP) with the HP drivers to each laptop. Both find new pci devices, but say Can Not Install Hardware and leave a yellow mark in Control Panel under PCI devices. Running XP Home SP3 on 2135 & XP Pro SP3 on 2105.

Hope someone can help.

Stupid me, assumed the HP drivers for the nic class would actually work for my card (which is of that class). Now have working wireless nic. Just need help with proper routing of antenna in lid.
