Compaq c700 display problem

my compaq c700 display is but graphics is shown

Need a bit better description. Display is ..... what? What graphics?

Getting a garbled screen? At what point, soon as you turn it on, when Windows loads, after it loads? How does the screen look?

Try it with an external monitor, does it show up OK then?
