My hp laptop won't shut down

Hello,
My hp laptop wont shut down even though I have closed all programs? any suggestions?

press and hold the power button for 5 sec to do a hard shutdown, give it a second and press the power button again to turn it back on. Then try a normal shutdown and see if it works. If not then try running windows update, followed by a registry cleaner like CCleaner (by pririform), and see if that does the trick.
