Hello,
i am going to buy a laptop. One of the two i have in mind has a second gen core i3 2330m and an intel hd graphics chipset. The other one has a 1st generation core i5 480m processor and a discrete GeForce GT420m graphics card. It's the later one that i am more leaning towards.
So,what would be your opinion?Does the 2nd gen i3 make a huge difference?Or the 1st gen i5 is good enough?

The I3 is about on par to a i3-380m. Although the HD3000 graphic chip is ok, the gt420m is still faster by a fairly big margin (though I wouldn't call it great for gaming either).

Therfore the i5 is the better choice. If gaming is priority I would consider an A8 or A6 from amd instead.

@Supermuncher85 yes gaming is a priority. And i may be doing some 3d studio max stuff. But i am short on budgetCan you suggest a better option than dell inspiron N4010 in the same budget range?

See if you can find one with G550 graphics. Still not great, but much better than your current choices. I know I saw some Lenovos with these graphics and a Core i5 for around $500US.

As another poster said, for a low cost gaming laptop, AMD will probably be your best bet, and Dell does not do AMD.

Sorry, it is actually g550m and is a higher version of Nvidia graphics than the gt4xxm series you stated earlier. It is still only minimally gamable but better than the gt450m. It is also mostly found on Lenovo computers although I am sure a few others use it.
