Laptop unable to startup. After switching on the screen remains blank without any progress. What should i do?

Besides the screen staying blank - what else is happening? Lights? Sounds?

Hold the screen next to a lamp or shine a flashlight on it.
Can you see any image on the screen?
If yes, there is a either a problem with the LCD backlight tube or the FL inverter that sends power to the backlight tube. Try that from power on and see if you can see anything at all.
