I recently purchased an ASUS K53E notebook. It runs windows 7 64bit home. 6Gb ram. Whenever I try and shut down, it does so and then immediately reboots. The power light only flickers breifly off before the reboot. I end up holding down the power button to turn it off eventually. Occassionally it will actually shut down, but not lately. Where should I start trying to find the culprit? I have searched and found little in the way of others with this problem.

Hello edelkin;

A couple things you can try.
Log off from your Windows account first and then shut down from the log in screen.
Boot up in Safe Mode (tap the F8 keep after power on) and do a shut down from there.

Does the laptop still behave the same way? If yes, it's probably a hardware problem.
If no, it shuts down normally, it's probably an OS/software/driver issue.
