I am about to sell my old Gateway P7908u FX Laptop and I would like to know what is the better I can get with my budget, preferably 17" but 15.6" still works, preferably from Newegg.com... a good gaming laptop for the money, ready for some BF3. Thanks guys

Considering your old Gateway P-7908u has a C2D P8700 2.53Ghz CPU and GTX 260M graphics card -
I'd say the only option that makes sense is the ASUS G73SW. Both the GT 555M and Radeon HD 6770M aren't that much more powerful than the GTX 260M.

I'd even suggest you keep your (2yr old?) Gateway a bit longer - till you can get a bit more into your upgrade budget and spring for a GTX 560M or better graphics card.

First of all Thanks for your valuable answers!
What most concerns me is the CPU and Video card, then the screen size but it is optional... what do you think about this one?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230099

Is the GTX 560M much better than the 460M and previous video cards you listed?

Can you recomend me a couple of more based on CPU + Video Card performance? I would appreciate it

If I have to spend the $1300 or maybe 50 more bucks I would do it. The key here is to get the better gaming laptop I can and do the same in about 2 years... sell it at a good price while still can.

Thanks!

The GTX 560M is a decent enough upgrade over the GTX 460M to be worth the extra $50.

The next step up would be a GTX 570M or Radeon HD 6950M. I think you'd find that upgrading the CPU above i7-2360M would probably push the price well past your budget.

If you want to price out some other gaming options you can pick and choose components on a custom laptop gaming site like http://www.xoticpc.com/
