Hey Guys,

I saw this new HP Laptop the other day, a HP Pavilion DV6-6107tx, the specs are listed below. I wanted to know how it compares to this Asus N53SN - SX043V.

HP Dv6 Specs:
2.0Ghz Intel Core i7 2630QM
4GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory
640GB 5400-rpm Hard drive
AMD Radeon 6770M - 1GB

Asus N53SN Specs:
2.0GHZ Intel Core i7 2630QM
4GB DDR3 1066 MHz Memory
640GB 5400-rpm hard drive
Nvidia GeForce GT550 - 2GB

In a duel between the two, including Gaming Frame Rates, Video Decoding, Video Encoding, and combined CPU & GPU intensive processes, which would out-do the other? Is it the Asus or the HP?

Thanks Guys,

well the specs are almost identical. ram is slightly faster on hp, but you won't notice the difference.

as far as comparing 6770 to 550, on high quality settings in games these cards perform neck to neck, with 6770 being a tiny bit better (2-7 fps above 550)

If your concern is video gaming, you can buy either one, they will both do excellent job.

if you are looking for something like 3dsmax rendering, extra Gb of video memory on 550 might be helpful. Can probably lump video editing here too, although depends on application.

if you are getting a laptop for day to day use, and casual video gaming, again, no difference what so ever. In this case I'd go by extra features and laptop case design looks

Hi,
As far as pure tech is concerned the only difference is the VGA. So your question should be which VGA is better.
Answer:
From notebookcheck.net
Rank Model 3DMark01 3DMark03 3DMark05 3DMark06 3DM Vant. P GPU
66* AMD Radeon HD 6770M N/A 24664 12730.5 10028 5227.2
80 NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M 32347 22100.5 16509.5 8675.7 3824

Clearly seen from the stats above, which you can also get from the site mentioned above. the AMD Radeoh is 24 places above the NVIDIA VGA.
Also the AMD VGA is considered high end from the site and the nVIDIA one is considered mid range
