Hi Guys. One question. This laptop the Pavilion DV7-6010EV has the core i3 2310m cpu. Does anyone know if it can take the core i5 2410m upgrade? I believe it can because they are same socket and generation and I can do it myself. The only thing that worries me is if the motherboard has some limitation only to accept it's factory placed cpu (core i3). Someone also told me that the cpu is soldered on the motherboard, but I haven't seen this in a regular size notebook except for the atom processors in netbooks. Any suggestions? Thanks

If HP offers this CPU as an option, then yes it will work. Otherwise, I would not recommend this upgrade. Even if the BIOS recognizes the new CPU, you may exceed the heatsink/fan capability of the existing system and end up with an unstable computer.

Good luck!
