I saw that on Lenovo.com, with a coupon, there is a i5 2.3Ghz laptop with a GT555m for only $679. I was gonna buy it right then but I looked up some benchmarks for it, the only things I can find are lame youtube videos. But the FPS's seem very low for a GT555m, almost like a GT540m. Can anyone who owns this confirm/disprove? some decent benchmarks would be cool. I'm pestering this forum a lot lately but I wanna get the best I possibly can for ~~$700.

I have the Lenovo Y470 with the Core i5-2410M and nVidia GeForce GT 550M.

The only game installed is Crysis. Setting AA to 2x and all graphic settings to high I managed to get between 20FPS - 26FPs on average. At most it peaked to 35FPS and dipped as low as 17FPS from what I can remember. This was in the 3rd chapter; Relic.

Keeping AA at 2x and lowering everything to medium quality resulted in frames rates between 31FPS and 45FPS most of the time. It peaked at 55FPS and dipped as low as 25FPS.

The GT 555M should probably get between 21 - 28 frames on average with high settings. On medium settings I would guess between 34FPS and 49FPS.

That was my original plan, an HP i5/i7 with a 6770. But with taxes and whatnot it's more like $800. Also, reading the comments, the ATi switchable graphics does not cooperate with OpenGL. It won't switch to the 6770m when a program using OpenGL is opened. So that's why I shied away from that. There was a $375 coupon that made it better (it was actually only about $75 off because it takes away the savings they already show you) and I can get a small discount and a free xbox if I buy through the student program, but I really don't want that OpenGL problem.

Also - I had looked at the benchmarks for the 555m before, and from a video I saw of the Lenovo Y570, it said it was running on medium settings, it was recorded with an external camera, and fraps showed an average of 50fps on quiet parts, but in the action only about 30-40fps and sometimes as low as 20fps. According to notebookcheck, and i5 with a 555m should run BFBC2 on High at about 38fps average. I don't know if I'm just looking at it wrong and that it really fluctuates a lot no matter what, but there are so few benchmarks for this laptop that I don't know.

Anyone having a Y570 can confirm if its 555m has 96 shader cores by running GPUz or GPU Cap Viewer?
I'm deciding if I should get a Y470 or Y570.
This page says the Y570p has a 555M with only 96 cores, but I'm not sure if the Y570 (without the p) also only has 96 cores or not.
Thanks in advance!
