Printer off line

Hello, I recently bought a HP DeskJet1000. It prints fine from the desk top it is plugged into and from one laptop. However I have another laptop which is giving me the message "printer offline" I needed to physically plug the laptop into the printer to get the laptop to recognize the printer. Now unplugged, it recognizes the printer and shows USB plug as the printer's virtual port. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?? Thanks

Try re-installing the printer driver.
