What you talking about? The desktop processors are much better then the laptop versions... anyways, that Alienware looks pretty maxed, but I don't feel comfortable recommending it... I'd go with a custom brand, you don't want to get a high end laptop from a big manufacturer, they put cheap stuff in there, and your computer isn't handled by pros like custom brands... That build your computer customized.

What is your budget? (please state currency too :) )

budget is 5.5k aus$

lol, yeah australia. dell at least offers warranty here, as far as i can tell exotic ect dont cover overseas buyers with warranty thats the hard part. the bench tests i saw on 2920xm versus tho 980x had the mobile part standing toe to toe :) at least for gaming and even winning at high detail settings (read eye candy addict)

Ahh... I see,...well, if I were you, I'd settle for the SLI 485m, I mean, they actually score higher then the 580s in 3d Mark... If you want the best of the best, well, maybe you can wait a while?

I will continue searching...

Would you consider ordering overseas? I mean, you won't be getting an Aussie keyboard, or Win7 english set-up... (Unless you get Ultimate... etc.)

But you may benifit from it, Asus offers a great 2 year global warranty on some laptops. But currently, the G74's only have 1x 560m...

Looks like you might be right mate, I'm gunna have to wait for for sandy bridge platforms to flesh out a bit in the market or buy from overseas. Its well worth the time looking and asking to get the unit locally and with all wanted components at reasonable price point with warranty.... its interesting that with the aus dollar exchange rate bringing most electrical good prices down over here that it doesnt translate into the pc market. such is life tho. ill keep lookin too, and thanks you have helped me add a few sites to trawl for price and tech comparison :)

No problem :) Glad I was able to help on some way or another.

the AUD is stronger then the USD, so, ordering from an American retailer that ships internationally will probably give you a better deal. The only issue would be regional settings, and taxes, shipping... You might want to write down some numbers to figure out what is the maximum raw price for a laptop you can afford after counting out shipping and handling, and the taxes. It will give you a clearer perespective on what exactly is within limit, either way, your budget is so lenient, maybe a bit too lenient, but then again, when your looking for the best of the best, manufacturers aren't going to be afraid to make you pay 500 dollars upward for that upgrade alone.
