Hello,Im looking for a new laptop for school.
1. What is your budget?
£700 but will be quite flexible. The cheaper the better.
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
13/14 inch
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Standard 1280x800 or 1366x768, dont really know the difference.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable, under 5lbs/2.2kg
5. How much battery life do you need?
Ideally about 4/5 hours minimum
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Sometimes, only to pass time,
Battlefield P4F - Medium but would be fine with smooth low
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Ocassional photo editing and graphic design
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
250gb
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3yrs would be nice
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Not really fussed as you don't normally get one with this size
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Don't like HP because of past experiences with their laptops.
Acer because their build quality is often bad.
I am starting to like Asus recently but any know company is acceptable.
13. What country do you live in?
UK
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
The main thing is to have quite a powerful portable laptop for as cheap as possible. Dedicate graphics would be preferable and if a CD drive comes that's a bonus.
I hope this can help people find their ideal notebook.
Additionally... you should also consider what support options are available in your area. If say you buy something abroad, will you be able to have it fixed near where you live? Does the warranty apply? How quickly do local accredited technicians fix laptops?
