Hello,
i am going to buy a new lappy ...i am confused between a config of dell that gives an i5 2410M and 6 gb of ram or a lenovo y560 that gives me i7 740M and 4 gb ram...my budget is 50-55k indianrupees..which one to buy?

It depends...

The dual core i5-2410M is the current generation Sandy Bridge CPU which has the Intel HD 3000 graphics core. The quad core i7-740M is the previous generation i7 CPU and does not have the Intel HD 3000 graphics core. Instead the i7 uses the GMA 4500MHD video chipset.

The Intel HD 3000 is about 2x faster than the GMA 4500MHD so if you want to play games, then you want the i5-2410M laptop. If you are not going to play games, then the i7-740M laptop is better.
