1. What is your budget?
under 1600

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15.6” or lower, as I’ll have to carry it around to class.

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Higher is better but I don't have a preference

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable is better

5. How much battery life do you need?
3 or 4 hours at least.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Currently I only play dead space but would prefer if it could run a newer pc game on medium settings but it's not necessary

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.)
It will heavily be used for audio recording, editing and mixing as well as movie watching and some video editing

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
Minimum 160gb with 7200 Rpm, but a ssd would be preferable

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
at least 3 yrs

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
DVD RW at least, bluray wound be nice but isn’t a necessity.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
HP is a no go. I currently own a HP laptop and it's hardware has done nothing but let me down

13. What country do you live in?
US

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
It needs to be able to connect to a monitor either through VGA or HDMI. TI firewire 1394 is also needed. If it doesn't have firewire but has a PCMI slot, could you recommend a firewire card

I will be using it to do a lot of audio recording (full band recording) so it needs to be able to handle running a couple of vsti at a time with minimum latency, little to no feedback/noise from laptop. It'll also serve as a laptop for school and minimum gaming but the games I play tend to be graphic intensive ... So if a really good game comes along that is only available on pc it would be good if it can run it.

Also audio processing will be handled by my audio interface, so there's no need for a designated sound card.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
