Hp laptop battery charges and discharges quickly

i have a 3 year HP laptop which is in really good state. Lately, it charges very quicklly and discharges [on batter usage] very quickly. whats going on? Any tips? Is my battery dead?

Nevert mind Acer listed in subcategory. Can you download this:

and get the numbers on battery. I suspect your battery is too old to hold any charge.
