*The MSI is an older model, I think. It costs some $US 25 more. I am trying to get a laptop that I can use as an all-around PC. Movies, a little work:excel, photos, videos tasks, gaming. Unfortunately my budget is only able to afford up to these laptops.

Apart from gaming there won't be too much difference in overall performance for the rest of the tasks you list. The MSI CX420x's Core i5-480M 2.66GHZ CPU has the edge here.

For gaming the GT 540M graphics card of the Aspire 4750G will be a much better choice for gaming.

Overall, with gaming being the factor in making a choice, its the Aspire 4750G.
