Which is better?

The HP has

Intel® Core™ i5-560M Processor (2.66GHz)
3MB L3 Cache
6GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMMS )

The Dell has

Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor 2.3GHz (Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz)
6GB DDR3 (2 DIMM)

Solution
What are you using it for? The second one's i5 processor is the 2nd generation series. Although it isn't quite as fast as the cpu in the first laptop it will achieve significantly better battery life. Besides that the Ram looks the same so I say go with the Dell if it doesn't cost much more. However, I'm no expert on laptops, so hopefully someone else with more knowledge can chime in here.

Id be using it for a home office. To write documents, log into citrix, but also to view video.

How can you tell that it is 2nd generation?

Thanks

It has 4 numbers after the "i5". "i5-2410M" compared to "i5-560M". The first generation series can easily be identified by either the logo or the amount of numbers following to cpu. The first generation will only have 3 while all the 2nd generations have 4.
