My daughter is purchasing a laptop and intends to watch TV shows on it, presumably with Netflix. I have been looking at a Lenovo T520 with an i5-2520M Processor running at 2.50GHz, 3MB L3, 4 GB DDR3, and the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 network adapter. My daughter does not have a landline so she will have to acquire a wireless signal. Does that configuration make sense for streaming video - the network adapter is an upgrade and she can upgrade the processor to the i7-2620M. But I don't know if either upgrade is necessary.
I am biased toward Lenovos because I have punished one for 4 years and it runs pretty much like the day it came out of the box. But my daughter has different expectations and I don't know if what I have found for her meets those needs.
