Laptop usb ports not working

Hello,

my dell laptop has 2 of the 4 usb ports gone dead. how do i resurrect them?

you have any idea as to what led to them going dead? I mean if you stuck a paperclip in there and shorted something that caused the controller to burn out you won't be able to do much.

If you installed some software, try uninstalling it or doing a system restore.

check in device manager that you don't have any hardware problems.
reinstall the USB controller drivers.

does POST give you any errors during power on?

well, nothing not-to-be-stuck in went in dem. they just went off one morning & decided nvr 2 come on again. its a dell n7010
