assuming your computer isnt a POS, what probably happened is that the program loads automatically at startup and bogs down your system. go into system admin -> services and set all of the processes pertaining to that program to manual. also go into msconfig and deselect the program from the autostart programs.

also, try adding another stick of ram to your laptop if you havent already.
