Maz's suggestion is a good one, the Sager he mentioned is the Clevo P151HM1 which you can buy from Sager or any other Clevo dealer you can find here:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/91510-clevo-guide-v2-0-faq-reseller-info.html

there's also the 150HM (15" model) starting at $1269 .... boosting the RAM to 8 GB and adding Windows 7 64 Home Premium gets the "non cash" price to $1,489

http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=P150HM

and the P170HM (17" model) starting at $1347 .... boosting the RAM to 8 GB and adding Windows 7 64 Home Premium gets the "non cash" price to $1,569

http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=P170HM

The main difference between the two 15" models is that the 151 has the matte type display and the 150 has the glossy or glare type display.

If you can fit an little SSD in the customization along with 8GB of RAM that would be a good step towards a more responsive laptop. Otherwise the suggestions above are pretty good.
