I have a LifeBook A series A3130 and need to replace the PC fan.

But I cannot open the case. Taking the screws out is done but it seems as if either the keyboard or something else is holding the casing so it will not open.

Any ideas?

Be very careful. Make sure you take out all the screws including the ones that are securing the keyboard and the CD/DVD. A second step would be to remove the keyboard and if there is plate with the power (and any other) buttons with the speakers above the keyboard you have to remove that one too. Under that plate you may find the screws that are securing the LCD and could be some other screws.
After you remove the LCD and the remaining screws try to open easily with 2 thin screwdrivers the laptop...

After you remove the LCD and the remaining screws try to open easily with 2 thin screwdrivers the laptop body. Usually you have to "unlock" with the screwdrivers the plastic clips that are holding the 2 body pieces of the laptop.

please let us know if you still have any issues.

that's correct. you have remove the keyboard, the speakers plate from the top of the keyboard (if you have one) and then the LCD.
99% of the laptop are having additional screws under the keyboard and the LCD screws are very long and they are going through both parts of the laptop body.
