Hello,

I have a working Dell Inspiron 8200 but I don't like it. It's heavy & the speakers don't work. I also have an Dell Inspiron 6000 that I do like but the HD crashed. Can I take the HD out of the 8200 & put it in the 6000? I don't have any OS disks or restore disks so I can only do it if it will work without them.
Thanks!

You're taking a gamble that Windows won't rebel and claim that you are trying to install the same copy on two computers . Windows is fairly good at adapting when moved between quite different machines but Microsoft have different ideas about that and have built in a nasty bit of spoiler technology.

You may be able to fix it by calling Microsoft and explaining that you are not stealing the software you paid for.

If the worst comes to the worst experiment with Linux (Ubuntu's a good starter product).
