Cd/dvd rom drives not showing in device manager windows 7

Hello,
cd/rw dvd drive not showing in my computer on upgrade to win 7 ent.

tried removing registry values, unscrewing drive and re-entering, restart, had it working once, only thing i have not done is reinstall of software. any ideas before i do this guys?

By registry values, do you mean removing the upper/lower filters? If that didn't do it, try heading to your laptop manufacturer's support site to download the latest drivers/firmware to see if that gets it going. If the site only has XP or Vista drivers, go with the Vista drivers.
