But the 310m is a 1gb card and 5470 is only 512mb... so there should be a difference? i think it should be faster as 310m

has +512mb more ram allotted to it than 5470

when comparing both of the same size or ram the 5470 performs better but when one has more and the other less....

and is i5-450 better or i3-370 better?

So 512mb card is better than the 1gb card.

All depends on the card so. is it better to take a little improved card of 512mb

than to take a little bad 1gb card? "so memory isn't a major factor for taking cards is it?"

so you say i should go ahead and buy the 512mb 5470 card???

but the 310m has something called optimus management something...

so bottom line what should i take the 310m 1gb or the 5470 512mb for the laptop???

what is the role of a greater memory in the card?

mainly office and meeting, sometimes studies microsoft office, adobe acrobat, online browsing sometimes a game like assasins creed 2 ,pop ,crysis but i don't really need high graphics as long as the game runs smoothly without glitches. The laptop need to support games for the next two years smoothly.

if u have suggestions for a good build laptop would appreciate it i had short listed asus u45jc. i live in india and the b series isn't available. i wanted a thinkpad type build the but thinkpad is costly with this kind of config so i choose the b53 which isnt available so i landed up on u45jc which is available and comparatively cheaper.

i like asus i never had issue and i never went for others as i heard glitches from my friends and colleagues about other brands so prefer staying in the safe zone.
