I want a high performance laptop, and I'm looking to buy from Sager. I don't need said laptop until mid 2011 so I'm going to wait it out for price drops or new models. The model I really want but can't afford right now is the Sager NP8120, which configured how I want it costs almost $3,000.

Around one year from right now what do you think the price of the Sager NP8120 will be starting at? As of now it starts at $2,300, with new technology and advanced notebooks being released and newer Sager models coming out could the price drop significantly within the 2011 market?

Possible, but more the more likely scenario is that the laptop will disappear, replaced by an upgraded model, because this laptop is obviously aimed at the not-budget-conscious, performance-at-all-costs consumer group, so when a new, upgraded model comes out, this will just be phased out, and instead of this becoming cheaper, that slightly more budget-conscious group will be served by an upgrade of their current budget line of laptops.

That's the worst case, and maybe most likely scenario but the Sager models 8690 and 8760 were released late 2009 with price tags of $1700 and $1900 respectively, but they are now starting at $1100 and $1300.

If I had to buy right now one of those is what I would get but I can wait, and since Sager has had these on sale for almost and entire year AND their prices dropped considerably isn't there a chance the cutting edge models now, NP9285 and NP8120, could be dropped in price in 2011?
